Domestic airline fares are expected to fall by as much as 40% in the coming months, according to new data.

Hopper is predicting that domestic airfare will fall by 38 percent from its peak summer prices in September and October.

The prices for domestic flights are expected to be less expensive than summer fares. Travelers should book domestic trips at least three weeks in advance to avoid price spikes.

According to data, airfare prices are expected to drop by 19 percent for international travelers who want to take advantage of COVID- related restrictions being removed.

Hopper advises travelers to book at least one month in advance for international vacations to save money.

The BLS reported last month that airfare prices were one of the few areas to decline during a time when inflation soared more steeply than it has in four decades.
