Plaid blazers are coming in hot this fall! A plaid blazer is a fun statement pieces, and when you pair it with basics, it magically elevates those basics from boring to chic. That's the beauty of a statement piece! Today I want to show you two ways to wear a plaid blazer and how it instantly kicks those basics up a few notches.
There are lots of plaid blazers out there at all different price points right now, from around $30 to $100+. The one I'm showing today is on the more affordable end from Old Navy (when it's on sale!) It's super stretchy, comfy, and soft! It runs huge-I'm wearing XS and it's still very roomy on me. It's also a boyfriend fit, which means it's cut to be looser. If you want more standard fits, a couple similar options are:
Mason Jules Plaid Blazer - I don't know if this is soft or stretchy, but it has a more standard fit and shorter length. It is very affordable on sale, so be sure to wait for one of those. I've seen it between around $29-$39.
ModCloth Blazer (XXS to 4X) - Also shorter and a tad more fitted.

SIZING INFO: I'm 5'6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes. Sizing info for all pieces below.Work Outfit: Black Pants + White Top
This is the work look I showed a couple weeks ago in my post Comparing 6 Slacks for Work. The base of the outfit is black pants and a white top, which are both standard workwear pieces. That outfit would be fine on its own, but adding a statement piece like a plaid blazer adds major points in the style department!
Casual Outfit - White Tee + Jeans + Sneakers
The base of this outfit is another standard: jeans and a white tee. Throwing this comfy plaid blazer over it is SO easy. It's just as easy as throwing on a hoodie, cardigan, or any other jacket. But, since a plaid blazer makes more of a statement, it instantly elevates the basics to a cool, casual outfit! Wear it with nude flats for a polished vibe, or go with slip on sneakers to keep it relaxed. Best of all? It's SO comfy and feels like you're wearing a sweatshirt!
BTW, in case you missed some posts last couple weeks, these jeans and sneakers are both VERY comfy! The jeans are crazy super stretchy- in this color "Juan." That includes a stretchy waistband! I sized way down to size 2, and they are still plenty roomy everywhere. I've heard the other colors aren't *as* soft or stretchy, but still decent. They have a higher rise at about 10″. The jeans are often on sale, ranging from $35 to $25-which is INSANE for jeans that feel this good. Definitely worth trying to see if they'll work for you! Check them out HERE.
These sneakers are also comfy and easy to walk in. The upper is flexible, and there's cushioning in the footbed. I found them on major sale at Nordstrom HERE. Or you can check if Macy's has an even better sale (since they run sales all the time) HERE.
Another cute, casual look would be dark wash jeans with a black tee and black or tan flats. You'll look chic, yet SO COMFY! 👏🏼
If you've been eyeing a plaid blazer lately and don't know what to wear it with, start by throwing it over two basic pieces. It'll level up your style, stat!
