Burke County deputies may have recovered Simon Powell's remains in local pond

The Burke County Sheriff's Office believes they have found the remains of a human in a pond.

The Burke County Sheriff's Office ended their search of the location after draining a pond on Highway 56 weeks ago.

The remains were found in the muck of the pond, according to the release.

2 more people have been charged with murder in the disappearance of Simon Powell.

After an arrest is made in a cold case, the sheriff's office searches a pond.

The evidence was sent to the crime lab.

Simon Powell was last seen on June 1st. The truck that was burning was found the day after.

On July 13, investigators from the Burke County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged a man with Powell's murder.

The sheriff hopes other killings will be solved.

Mitchell Lanell Lambert was taken into custody by the U.S. marshals office in Georgia. He has been charged with murder, kidnapping and armed robbery in relation to the death of Powell.
