The fine print on the features page states that live activities will be available for NBA, MLB, and Premier League games in select countries. In the U.S., Canada, Australia, U.K., Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, Live Activities for NBA and MLB games will be available.

There will be no live activities in the initial public release of the operating system. The feature will allow developers to submit Live Activities to the App Store.

In September, Apple is expected to release a new version of its mobile operating system. The software update is compatible with older phones.
