Every time the Trump Organization tried to convince a judge that the investigation was politically motivated, it failed. James was sued by Trump in federal court in order to stop the investigation. The case was thrown out by a judge.
The criminal investigation is being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney. Bragg's office brought tax charges against Trump's company and CFO.
