The associates of Donald Trump believe that an aide or aides to the former president may have lied to the FBI about what he was keeping in Mar-a-Lago.

The report states that people close to Trump are filled with paranoia after the FBI raid on the resort.

The US National Archives had previously complained about Trump bringing documents from the White House to Mar-a-Lago.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Trump's lawyer, Christina Bobb, said that Trump's legal team had a discussion with the Department of Justice about material being kept in a basement.

She said that the lawyers searched several dozen boxes in the basement and asked that they be better secured.

The Post's sources said that the raid was focused on whether Trump gave items that were requested by the DOJ.

Bobb's claims were echoed by Trump's statement Tuesday in which he said that he had cooperated after the National Archive and DOJ had requested that he return items taken from the White House

When a president leaves office, records and other material must be handed over to the National Archives.

Trump claims they broke into a safe after taking with them 12 boxes from Mar-a-Lago.
