Pirates baserunner loses his phone sliding into third (0:33)

Castro's cell phone fell out of his pocket as he slid into third base. There is a time and a place.

Castro is a second baseman for the Pirates.

Castro, who was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis before the game, slid into third in the fourth and had his phone fly out of his pocket. He ran to third on Oneil Cruz's single before sliding into the base to prevent the phone from being lost.

The umpire pointed the phone at the ground after seeing it. Castro gave the phone to third base coach Mike Rebelo, who had an angry look on his face as he took it.

Since the Houston Astros used live TV feeds to steal opposing teams' signs during their run to the World Series Championship, Major League Baseball has cracked down on the use of technology on the field.

Luhnow and Hinch were suspended for the 2020 season. The Astros forfeited their first and second round picks in 2020.

It was not known if Castro had the phone on vibrate.
