It was the first time that a Super Heavy booster had been fired up by the company.

Booster 7 is a prototype of the Super Heavy that is scheduled to be launched on the first test flight of the Starship program. The engine test shows that the company is ready for that mission.

The test, which took place this afternoon at the Star base facility in South Texas, involved just one of Super Heavy's 33 Raptor engines. A static fire took place when Booster 7 remained anchored to the launch mount.

The Super Heavy rocket is on the stand.

The upper stage of the Starship system is called Starship. Both elements will be powered by the next-generation Raptor engine, which is more powerful than the one used by the company's rockets.

There have been test flights that reached a maximum altitude of just 6.2 miles. Half of what the final spaceship will sport will be used in those jaunts.

The upcoming test flight will change that, if everything goes according to plan. Booster 7 will launch a prototype of a spaceship called Ship 24 on that mission. After liftoff, booster 7 will splash down in the Gulf of Mexico and ship 24 will come down in the Pacific Ocean.

After the Booster 7 activity, the company conducted a static fire with two of the Raptors.

You can see more.

Booster 7 and Ship 24 probably won't be cleared for that launch until more testing is done. Some of the trials will be big. It will be a sight and a sound when Booster 7 fires up all 33 of its Raptors. There are just nine engines in the first stage of the Falcon 9.

Booster 7's first static fire on the mount was at Star base. There was a fire at the base of the vehicle on July 11.

On Tuesday, there was a lot of activity for the company. The company launched 52 of its Starlink internet satellites with a Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. A little less than nine minutes after the launch, the first stage of the rocket came down in the ocean.

At 10:12 p.m., the story was changed. There was news of the static fire on August 9th. There are details and video about the Starlink launch.
