The FBI executed a search warrant at former President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie thinks it was a fair game.

The property in Palm Beach was entered by the FBI on Monday. Trump did not say what the warrant was for, but he did complain that agents broke into his safe.

Christie said in an interview with Julie Mason that there are contents in a safe that would help prove a violation of the law.

It happens frequently in federal law enforcement when something goes into a safe. You have to have the facts in order to convince a federal judge that you need and have the right to do that.

As the Justice Department ramps up its probe into the Jan. 6, 2021, attacks on the U.S. Capitol and homes in on the former president, a search warrant was issued.

The New York Times reported that the search was unrelated to the investigation.

The search appears to be related to Trump failing to turn over some presidential records at the end of his term. There are 15 boxes of documents from Mar-a-Lago.

Christie, who served as a U.S. attorney in New Jersey, said he trusts the search warrant affidavit was examined by the FBI director and attorney general.

You should not be doing this. There should be grave concerns about the conduct of the search warrant.

Christie wanted the FBI's search warrant affidavit to be made public so that the public could be reassured.

The affidavit that underlies the request for the search warrant from the judge is going to be the most important document for everyone to see.

The former governor was an ally of Trump during his presidency but has since become a frequent critic of the former president.
