According to three people with knowledge of the matter, the Justice Department has recently conducted new interviews for its investigation into the use of ad technology by the company.

For more than a year, the Justice Department has been looking into whether or not the internet giant abuses its dominance. The people, who were not authorized to discuss confidential matters, said that its lawyers are speaking with publishers and competitors to gather new material, confirm evidence and test its legal theory.

The spokeswoman for the Justice Department did not respond to the request. The Justice Department met.

The enormous competition in online advertising has made online ads more relevant, reduced ad tech fees and expanded options for advertisers.

On August 31, the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York will hear a motion to dismiss from the State of Texas. The Justice Department could see what a judge thought of the antitrust claims if they waited for a ruling.

Texas argues in its case that the digital advertising industry is dominated by one company and that it has abused its power. The issues that the Justice Department is investigating are the same ones.

In 2020, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the company, accusing it of abusing its power over online searches. Later that year, the attorneys general of Texas and nine other states filed their own lawsuit focused on the control of the display ad tech ecosystems, which is used by publishers to sell ad space on their websites.

A person with knowledge of the offer said that the Justice Department inquiry was resolved by moving the ad tech businesses into a separate unit. The government was skeptical of the offer.

Mr. Schottenfels said that there were no plans for the business to be sold or exited.
