Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said he signed a contract extension but the team was waiting to announce it until general manager Les Snead did the same.

McVay was asked about a contract extension during his first press conference. He said that they were in a good spot. I feel good about the direction that's going in, I think it will be me and Les, and you will know when that is finalized for us.

"We wanted to be able to announce that when both of us had gotten done," McVay said.

It is important for Les and I to have that representation as we are a partnership and a pair.

McVay said that the extension was always a really good dialogue.

"These things take time, but I think it's important," he said. The process was respected by us. When Les and I finished, we wanted it to be announced. It's only gotten better as we go, but that's where it's at right now.

The Rams, led by McVay and Snead, are coming off a Super Bowl win and their second Super Bowl appearance.

McVay, who was the youngest head coach in modern football history when he was hired by the Rams, has led the team to a 55-26 record in five seasons.

The Rams are 86-74-1 in 10 seasons under Snead's leadership. Snead moved up the draft board from the 15th pick to the first pick in order to take quarterbackJared Goff in the first round.

Matthew Stafford and Von Miller were added in January and November, respectively. Another important piece to the Rams' playoff run and Super Bowl victory was signed by him in the middle of the season.

Snead and the Rams' front office have given out several large contract extensions this season, including extensions for quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
