A new football locker room has been unveiled at the University of Miami, as well as a $1 million gift for the renovation of the men and women's basketball weight room.
The football locker room, which is being called the "The Rock" Johnson locker room, has a number of sleek storage compartments.
Jim Larranaga said that the University of Miami has made a statement over the last few months. The first thing we did was hire Mario Cristobal as our football coach. That was a national story. Throughout the country, not only in Miami. The next step was the hiring of Dan Radakovich as our athletic director. He has built tremendous facilities throughout his career. He wants the University of Miami to go in the same direction.

Stephen and Susan Symons donated the gift for the basketball renovation. The strength and conditioning room, recovery area, nutrition bar, and office space will be included.
Larranaga said they try to send recruits messages about how good they are and how committed they are. When a student-athletes sees with his own eyes the incredible facilities, weight room and the training room, that will let him know the University of Miami is committed to the basketball program. We want to compete at the national level.

The Miami football team is in the preseason coaches' poll. The first game of the season is against Bethune-Cookman.
The Miami men's basketball team went to the NCAA tournament as a 10-seed and lost to Kansas. South Carolina defeated the Hurricanes in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
