The batter comforted the pitcher after the kid accidentally hit him in the head with a pitch. In the first frame of the Texas East vs. Oklahoma game, there was a confrontation at the plate between the two players. On the third pitch of the at-bat, Shelton's pitch got away from him, and he was hit in the side of his head. His helmet absorbed most of the blow and he was able to shake it off. Shelton was so frightened by the pitch that he broke down on the mound. He needed a few moments to collect himself after the video from the stadium showed him crying. The man was told he was fine by the man who walked over from first baseman. The Little Leaguer said, "Hey, you're doing just great" Shelton left the pitcher's mound to play in the infield, but his gesture was appreciated by the game's commentators. The contest ended up with Shelton's Texas East team leading 9-4 in the fourth.
