Russell Dorsey of Bally Sports and Stadium said that Tim Anderson will be out for between four and six weeks.

Anderson might need surgery to fix the problem.

Anderson went 0-for-4 at the plate in the 8-0 loss to the Rangers.

Anderson injured his hand on a check swing in the last at-bat of the game and went home on Sunday to have his hand examined.

The 29-year-old missed Sunday's 8-2 win over the Rangers while serving the first of a two-game suspension for making contact with the home plate umpire.

He was going to miss the first game of the second game of his suspension so he could play in the first game.

Anderson has had a fairly good season. He slashed.301/.339/.395 with six home runs, 25RBI and 13stolen bases before he was injured. He was selected to play in the All-Star game for the second time.

It's not clear who will be in the lead-off spot with Anderson out. He has played at least 12 games at the position.

Entering Tuesday's twink against the Royals, the White Bears are 55-53. The injury to Anderson comes at a bad time for the franchise as it is just two games behind the first place Minnesota Twins in the American League Central.

The first week of September is when Anderson will come back. He won't return until late September if he's out for the full six weeks.
