Despite a "steep" asking price from the Brooklyn Nets, the New Orleans Pelicans still want to trade for Kevin Durant.

According to the New York Daily News, the Nets are interested in getting an All-Star level player, rotation players and significant draft compensation in exchange for KD.

The Pels could offer a trade that checks those boxes with the inclusion of a former All-Star in Brandon Ingram, plus Herbert Jones, Devonte' Graham, Jose Alvarado and draft picks acquired as part of previous trades.

Rich Kleiman, KD's manager, said in June that KD asked for a trade out of Brooklyn.

The Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns were thought to be the top two teams on the wish list of KD.

The expectation was that teams would make huge offers to the Nets, but that hasn't happened.

The Nets didn't get any offers to their liking and prefer to keep him rather than trade him, according to a report by Brian Windhorst.

If he really doesn't want to play in Brooklyn anymore, the Nets would have the option of not trading him.

If both parties agree that a trade is for the best, the Pels are the best team in the NBA to make a big offer.

After sneaking into the playoffs last season, they are a trendy pick to take a big leap forward in 2022-23.

The Pelicans should be a playoff team next season and have a chance to do some damage in the playoffs, but they would be better off with KD.

The veteran is a 12-time All-Star, four-time scoring champion, two-time NBA champion, two-time NBA Finals winner and one-time NBA Most Valuable Player.

He was limited to 55 games last season because of a knee injury, but he still averaged 29.9 points, 7.4rpg, 6.4 assists and 2.1 three-pointers made.

The Pelicans are building something that could be special, but if they can get one of their stars, some supporting pieces and draft picks, it will likely push them into the top tier of the Western Conference.
