Ben McAdoo wasn't as critical of Baker Mayfield on Tuesday as he was last year, when he expressed concerns over the quarterback's height, hand size and style of play.
One of his most well known critics seems to have forgiven him.
"Baker since he's been here in the last two weeks, it's been pretty impressive," said McAdoo, speaking for the first time on the former Cleveland Brown.
For the second day in a row, an official from the Carolinas used the word "impressive" to describe the player.
Matt Rhule said that he was impressed by what he had done in 10 days. He's making huge leaps.
Josh Allen was the top quarterback according to an article in The New York Times.
The top two picks in the draft went to the same team.
McAdoo's assessment of the Oklahoma quarterback was not always positive. He was concerned about the small hands of the first-round pick, Kenny Pickett, and the height of the second-round choice, Baker Mayfield.
"He has an edge to him; I like that," McAdoo said. They are going to follow him. He didn't have a lot of pro-style football in his tape. If you are short, you have to be able to make up for it, but personality doesn't do that.
He was not a great athlete. The guy is short and has small hands, that's what scares me.
On Tuesday, he didn't express any of those concerns. He said that the three passes knocked down at the line were not related to height.
He said a lot about the leader.
Command is one of his strengths. He can command an offense and lead a room. There is a presence about him. He has a lot of fire in his guts.
The man likes that the man has adjusted to his system.
The thing for Baker is that he's been in a lot of offensive systems. He works at it and is bright. That makes a difference to him. I'm sure he's burning midnight oil to get caught up because he's here very early in the morning.
