It's not a good idea to think aboutFerrari. Not its F1 team, repeatedly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory as rival Red Bull romps away with the titles, but the road car division, which is recalling nearly every car it has sold since 2005.

There is a problem with the cap. It is designed to vent pressure, but it is not so hot. Venting can fail and cause a vacuum to build up, which could result in a leak of brake fluid. If you don't have brake fluid in your lines, you won't be able to slow down or stop in time.

A software patch and a new brake fluid cap are all that's needed to fix the problem. Pull over and get the car towed if this happens.

According to the company, only a small percentage of cars are affected, but it's important to replace them all. There are about 23,555 cars in the US.

The owners should be notified by the end of September about when their car will be fixed.
