As the NFL preseason schedule hits full tilt this week, heated position battles for all 32 teams will be decided in games and training camp as the start of the 2020 season draws closer.
Fantasy football fans will be watching the undecided QB battles very closely.
There's an open quarterback competition in the Carolinas. Mitchell Trubisky is expected to open the season as Pittsburgh's quarterback, but he could be challenged by Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett.
The Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, and Kansas City Chiefs are all trying to figure out which running back will get the most carries.
The battles for positions behind their top two players are heating up.
The biggest competition in training camp is broken down by the reporters.

The slot receiver is placed on the ground.
The slot receiver spot was taken by Cole Beasley after he was released, and the leading candidate to take his place has been identified asIsaiah McKenzie. There was a lower-extremity issue that left him behind in the fight. For the rest of camp and the preseason, he will have to impress.
The person is running back.

It's hard to say this is a battle because the carries will be split in the crowded backfield. The battle is for the lion's share of reps between ChaseEdmonds, Raheem Mostert, SonyMichel and others. The preseason games will give a better idea of the order.
A cornerback.
There is a hole opposite of J.C. Jackson on the opposite side of the field. Veteran Terrance Mitchell has always been the top choice in training camp. Jack Jones has the highest upside, but hasn't emerged yet.
A cornerback.
It's still a battle because the incumbent and the rookies have been rotating with the starter. If he isn't starting opposite D.J. Reed, it would be a big deal. It's not a bad thing that the corner is having a quiet camp. The job will be his once he proves he's physically capable of holding up against the run.
The left guard is standing still.
Ben Powers has taken the early lead in this fight. Powers needs to outplayPhillips in the preseason in order to win the competition. Ben Cleveland missed the first week of camp because he failed the conditioning test.
The left guard is standing still.
There are four new starters on the offensive line. Jackson Carman and Cordell Volson are in a battle to be the winner of the competition. Carman has dominated the first team reps and appears to have the inside track.
The defensive tackle is strong.
The entire defensive tackle rotation is made up of rookies. Veteran Taven Bryan will be fighting rookies Perrion Winfrey and Tommy Togiai. The position could be solidified with the addition of a veteran during camp.
Mike Clay and Daniel Dopp talk about the struggles of the Pittsburgh quarterbacks.
A quarterback.
The starter on the first depth chart was named asMitch Trubisky. Through the first two weeks of training camp, he has taken almost all of the first team reps. The distance between the two is not that great. Kenny Pickett, the first-round pick, is playing better after a rocky start.
The person is running back.
The running back room has improved compared to last year. In his last season as a Colt, he ran for 1,091 yards, but he missed most of the season due to an injury. Dameon Pierce has been the most dynamic back in camp because of his quick feet. Rex has shown the ability to run, catch and block.
The left tackle is not a right tackle.
The Colts moved on from Eric Fisher and left Matt Pryor and Bernhard Raimann to fight for this spot. While Raimann is off to a bit of a slow start, he has held up well and is getting the first-team reps. Even though he isn't as fast as Raimann, he still possesses power.
The right tackle was made.
Walker Little is a second year player and incumbent Jawaan Taylor is trying to hold him back. Little was a left tackle in college and moved to right tackle in the spring. The new OL coach hopes to get more out of Taylor, who has allowed 40 sacks in 49 games Little has gotten the majority of the first-team reps because Taylor has been injured. Taylor is going to return soon.
The right tackle was made.
Three high draft picks have been used to address the right tackle. After using a first-round pick on Wilson, they thought they had secured it. Two people are vying for the job, one is a second-round pick and the other is a third- round pick. Both players have taken turns working with the starter.
A guard.
Training camp is in its third week and the guard spots on the offensive line are still up for grabs. At the moment, Risner appears to be at the top of the depth chart after taking most of the snaps with the starting left guard. The majority of snaps at right guard have been taken by Netane Muti. After battling injuries and taking a pay cut, Graham Glasgow is the most experienced player in the group and can play center or guard. He's spent most of his time with the second team.
The person is running back.
The top reserves are high on the Chiefs' to-do list because they missed time with injuries in the past. Ronald Jones has been the second back for the majority of camp, but the Chiefs are also looking at other backs. If the Chiefs keep four running backs, it will be the deepest group they have had in years.
The right tackle was made.
BrandonParker started at left tackle in place of the resting Kolton Miller in the Hall of Fame Game. Alex Leatherwood, who was moved to right guard after just four games, started at right tackle. Leatherwood did not make a big deal out of it, but he gave up a couple of sacks. Josh McDaniels bristled when asked if playing a different position was part of the problem. With more than $25 million in cap space, Las Vegas may be in the market for a more established right tackle. Stay on top of the situation.
The right tackle was made.
There is an open competition at the right tackle position. "I'm very pleased with both of them right now, they're both doing well," Joe Lombardi said after nine practices. We'll see how it goes. The only position that remains a question going into the season is right tackle, as the Bolts have spent a first-round pick on each of the last two years. Both Pipkins andNorton started at right tackle.
The left guard is standing still.
Since the opening practice, rookies Tyler Smith andConnor McGovern have split reps with the first team, but the feeling is Smith will eventually take over. He was called a left-sided player by the Cowboys when they drafted him in the first round. He plays left guard in camp. He has been penalty-free so far and his strength is obvious. McGovern is fighting a first-rounder and the first-rounder generally wins when everything is equal.
The person is a tight end.
Ricky Seals-Jones has been out with an injury most of camp, so there isn't much of a competition. Daniel Bellinger will be the Giants' primary tight end this year. The fourth-round pick is not facing much competition at the moment. As training camp ends, it is something to watch. Is the Giants adding a veteran to this mix?
The wide receiver is a person.
The two players rest at the top of the chart. It becomes interesting from there. The coach says that the former first-round pick is trying to make the team. With Smith dealing with a groin strain, Reagor has gotten some work with the first team and has had a few nice moments. Reagor is competing with Greg Ward and Britain Covey for a spot on the team.
There was a nickelback.
The Commanders need to find a replacement for Collins in their three-safety package because he is unsigned. Forrest missed most of last summer with a hamstring injury, but has been playing well in camp. He's quick to the ball. The rookies and veterans are getting looks. Corner Benjamin St-Juste could play in the slot for Washington. The man has looked good this summer.
The offensive tackle is supposed to be offensive.
Assuming Lucas Patrick can return for Week 1 after suffering a hand injury that requires surgery, the Bears probably have their center, left guard, and right guard spots figured out. The tackle spots are close to being finished. During the second week of camp, the fifth-round pick has been the left tackle. Riley Reiff could still see reps at left tackle, even though he has split reps at right tackle with LarryBorom over the last week. It feels like Teven has a long way to go to get first-team reps after missing seven practices with an undisclosed injury, despite coaches saying they expect him to compete for a starting spot at left or right tackle
A cornerback.
There was an open competition between Jeff Okudah and Will Harris for the outside corner spot. Okudah, the third overall pick in 2020, is coming off a season-ending injury and has just 10 games played in his third season while Harris, the second overall pick in 2020, is transitioning from safety. Both of them are very motivated to succeed. I called both of them at the same time and asked if they were going to compete. Glenn said that they were willing to see what the competition was going to be about. I hope the best man wins.
The offensive line is made up of offensive and defensive linemen.
