The classic arcade game Pac-Man has emerged as a possible basis for a live-action adaptation. The film is being developed by the studio behind Disney Plus's Clouds and is based on an idea from Sonic the Hedgehog associate producer Chuck Williams.
The film is only being reported as being in development, and there is no mention of it having entered production. In an environment where studios are turning to video games for intellectual property, the news makes sense. In recent years, plans to develop films based on everything from triple-A titles like Metal Gear Solid to independent darlings like Firewatch have been announced.
Specifics are thin on the Pac-Man project
The occasional TV adaptation of Pac-Man is nothing new to the character. Between 1982 and 1983 there was an animated series that aired on ABC, as well as a cartoon that aired on ABC in the 1980's. To our knowledge, no one has succeeded in making a live-action movie centered around the character of Pac-Man.
We don't know who will play the character, who will write and direct the film, or when it will be released. Here is a video of the current live-action Pac-Man.
