Apple has been working on a headset for a while. The leaks haven't stopped despite the fact that we haven't seen an official announcement. The latest leak shows how expensive Apple's augmented reality/ virtual reality Wearable could be. It is expected to be very expensive, like most Apple products.
The leak comes from highly trusted Apple analyst, who in a research note stated that Apple's augmented reality headset could cost $2,000. This is in line with what Mark Gurman said in his newsletter last year. The first version of Apple's product will have less than 1.5 million units. It seems as if the company wants to assess its performance and demand before making a lot of units.
The headset will be released in January of 2023. The headset has been delayed due to overheating and other issues. There are a lot of reports and leaks suggesting a similar launch date. The device has seen many schedules over the years so we suggest you skepticism.
The 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro are powered by the M1 Pro. The device will have cameras to track hand movements. Two high-resolution 8K displays are likely to be made by the same company. These displays use technology specifically designed for virtual and mixed reality devices. The headset is not expected to be very heavy.
Considering that its competitors have much cheaper offerings on the market already, Apple's alleged $2,000 price could be concerning. The HP Reverb and the Vive Focus sell for $600 and $1,300, respectively.
