It looked like a glamorous villa, but it wasn't.
The video gained over 4.3 million views.
The listing was taken down and the money returned. She will look at reviews next time.
A nature lodge in Indonesia would be the perfect place to celebrate her and her travel partner's one month anniversary there.
She booked a room for one night in July after reading a few good reviews and found a villa with a restaurant and views of the rainforest.
The villa was abandoned when Robertson and her partner got there. There was an overgrown pool. There were stacks of chairs on the outside of the restaurant. There weren't any people on the property.
We couldn't do anything else. Robertson, who is sharing her adventures on her website Atypical Adventure, told Insider that they were exhausted and tired.
Robertson recorded the experience and uploaded it to her TikTok account. As of Monday, the video had over four million views.
Robertson and her partner moved from their homes in New Zealand to a village on the south coast of Indonesia.
Robertson said the move from windy, rainy Wellington to tropical, warmBali has been just brilliant.
She said that the change from cold and windy to sunny and beautiful was a pleasant one.
Robertson began searching for a romantic vacation to celebrate their 10-month relationship anniversary as they approached their one-month mark in Indonesia.
She found a private room at the nature lodge with positive reviews and a host who had a 100% response rate.
She booked the house for about half a million Indonesian Rupiahs. Robertson said it was a lot more expensive for the couple to buy it.
Two hours after their anniversary, the couple hopped on their motor scooters and drove from their apartment in Canggu to Sidemen.
They went to the wrong place. Robertson and her partner were surprised by the overgrown area when they found it.
Robertson said they parked in the driveway and walked past the reception area to the main building.
The back of the main building was overgrown when she walked around it. The pool had turned green and where the restaurant should have been, all the chairs were up and it was just dusty.
The lodge had become a ghost town.
The only thing they could do was laugh.
He doesn't say "What have you done" in the TikTok. She asked what was going on.
The humor wore off after they explored the abandoned lodge for a while. They went back on their scooters and went to another property after finding another listing in Ubud.
Robertson asked for a refund fromAirbnb. Robertson said a refunds was issued the same day. She said that the listing was removed from the website.
"We provided our support to the guest at the time, including a full refund, as we were disappointed to learn about this experience," a representative of the company told Insider. The listing is no longer on the platform.
The comments section on Robertson's TikTok is full of other people sharing similar experiences. It can be difficult to know which resorts and villas are still open after they were put on the market during the Pandemic.
One TikToker said they always ask for live-feed video.
Some people said they only bookAirbnbs with reviews.
Robertson is going to make sure she hears back from the host.
I recommend the island. She said it was a beautiful place. This is a story that happened to me.
