The search engine was down for a short time Monday night.

According to data from DownDetector, many people around the world received an error message when they tried to use a search engine.

The users saw a 500 or error message. The server encountered an error and was unable to complete your request.

Users reported that the home page took longer to load. There were other apps that did not appear to be affected.

DownDetector said the problem began at 9:09 pm. It spiked around 9:40 p.m. and appeared to be resolved by 10:30p.m.

A request for more information was not responded to by the search engine.

According to data from Oberlo and SimilarWeb, Google.com is the most visited website on the internet with more than 80 billion visitors last month.

According to a report by SFGate, three people were injured by an electrical incident at a data center in Iowa. It was not clear if that incident was related to the earlier one.

The share of the parent company of the search engine was little changed Monday, and have fallen nearly 20% year to date, compared to the S&P 500.
