When Trump left office, he returned to Mar-a-Lago with 15 boxes of letters, souvenirs, and government documents, some of which were supposed to be turned over to the National Archives. The National Archives told Congress that when Trump returned the boxes, they found items marked as classified national security information. Federal agents went to Trump's house to see if he had any more presidential records or classified documents. Trump made the public aware of the raid as it was happening, even though he was not at Mar-A-Lago.
