The use of a hallucinogenic drink, ayahuasca, during an off-season retreat isn't considered a violation of the league's drug policy.

Rodgers talked about his ayahuasca retreat in 2020, before the third of his four most Valuable Player seasons, on the "The Aubrey Marcus" show. The native beverage of South America is called ayahuasca and is used for religious purposes.

Brian McCarthy, a spokesman for the National Football League, said Monday that it wouldn't have triggered a positive test result for either substance abuse or performance enhancing substances.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur was asked if he was concerned about the league disciplining Rodgers, and he said "I really haven't given it much thought at all."

Rodgers said that the retreat gave him a deep and meaningful appreciation for life, and that he knew he would never be the same.

The experience helped pave the way for his success, according to Rodgers.
