The New York Jets could be without their starting right tackle for an extended period of time, according to a source.

The 2020 first-round pick injured the same knee that required season-ending surgery, but this was described as a different injury. The Jets' concern level was raised after the results of theMRI were received. A source said the assumption is that he will miss a lot of time.

There was an early offensive-line drill on Monday. He was limping around, but still practiced. On the second play of the 11-on-11 period, John Franklin-Myers hit Becton, causing him to fall backwards. His right foot got caught in the grass, which may have caused his knee to bend.

He removed his shoulder pads and went straight to the locker room. He began wearing a knee brace last Friday as an indication that he may have begun to feel a bit uneasy. A source said it was normal training camp soreness.

The coach was cautiously optimistic after Monday's practice. The doctors told him that the knee was stable and that the exam was precautionary.

It doesn't seem like a big deal, but hopefully that stays the case," he said.

Any time lost could be significant for the man with a history of injuries and conditioning issues. The Jets signed Benenoch to a one-year contract. The free agent tackle visited with them over the weekend and they are still interested in him.

Even though the team initially said it would take four to six weeks for him to return from surgery, he never played again.

With Becton's latest injury, there is a greater sense of need to add an experienced tackle. Left tackle George Fant is back after having knee surgery.

The team has a lot of great talent at tackle and Brown would be a luxury, according to Saleh.

"I don't think it makes me panic at all," he said. "Duane is a bonus, that's for sure."

That was before the results of the magnetic resonance image.

He didn't finish six games because of injuries in his first two seasons. He ballooned to about 400 pounds as he recovered from surgery.

He reported in good shape after training at the facility, despite being overweight at the mini camp. As he worked his way back into football shape, Becton was praised for his hard work.

Is it a challenge that he has to miss time?

He will see if he takes time off. You're worried for everyone." You don't want to lose your conditioning. He is a large man. He's worked his tail off and done everything he's been told to do. He can continue on this track if he checks out well. I think he will be okay.

It had faded by nightfall.
