The Federal Bureau of Investigation is conducting an "unannounced raid" at former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club.
A large group of FBI agents are raiding the Palm Beach club that Trump uses as his residence.
He didn't specify why the agents visited the club, but claimed his team had been "working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies"
FBI agents broke into Trump's safe, he claimed.
Forbes contacted the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's office.
The visit by FBI agents to Mar-a-Lago comes at a time when the DOJ is investigating the January 6 Capitol riot. Two weeks ago, the Washington Post reported that prosecutors had inquired about the campaign. In June, federal authorities conducted searches on former Trump lawyer John Eastman and Trump-era DOJ attorney Jeffrey Clark, both of whom were involved in efforts to overturn the election. According to reports, Trump's legal team is in talks with the DOJ on how to handle claims of executive privilege. The FBI search isn't related to the Capitol riot or attempts to overturn the election.
The FBI activity was called political persecution by Trump.
The story will be changed.
