  • When he shared data with his associate, he failed to remember some details.

In an exclusive interview with Insider, Donald Trump's campaign chairman Paul Manafort said that he shared campaign polling data with a suspected Russian intelligence officer in order to lay out the groundwork for future business dealings.

He said it was meant to show how vulnerable Clinton was.

He was trying to get more money from people in Russia.

The Trump campaign's polling data was given to a business associate of suspected Russian intelligence. The data Kilimnik shared with Russian spies was deemed sensitive by the Treasury Department. Kilimnik was given the sanction by the Department for this transaction.

The data he shared with the business associate was a combination of public and private information, according to the man.

During the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential elections, it was denied that he shared information with Kilmnik. He told Insider that he couldn't remember sharing data with Kilimnik because of his detainment.

After spending nearly two years in prison on various charges, including tax fraud and witness tampering, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort spoke to Insider. The president pardoned the man in 2020.
