She used her work as a way to advocate for cancer research. In 2008 she organized a walk along the Great Wall of China to raise cancer awareness.

She was married to John Easterling the same year and by 2010 she was funding breast cancer research.

In the years since,Newton-John had kept her diagnosis secret, but opened up about it when she was diagnosed again in 2017:

I won't be one of those statistics. I'm okay. She told the Today show that she would deal with it in her life.

When she was diagnosed with cancer,Newton-John dedicated her life to making life better for other survivors, rather than letting it affect her.

She is survived by her husband, daughter, sister, brother, nephew, and niece.
