Non-fungible token, or NFT, thefts are not uncommon, but they are still a little mind-blowing. The CEO of a celebrity video platform is being targeted. Galanis reported over the weekend that he lost a lot of NFTs because of the Apple ID hack. He bought a Bored Ape Yacht Club ape for over $300,000 in January.

The theft of the NFT was reported by a bot. Galanis bought the ape for around $300,000 at the time, but the alleged thief took it and sold it to a new owner for around $130,000. The BAYC-adjacent Otherside token is currently worth around $66,000. The new owner of the ape can't sell it through the platform because Open Sea has frozen it.

Galanis doesn't know the exact hack mechanics. He may have kept a copy of his seed phrase in a service that uses iCloud backups to give the hacker access after his account was compromised. Galanis didn't reply to a direct message asking for confirmation.

A lot of other NFT owners have had their information hacked. An ape, which was the star of an upcoming TV series from Green, was bought back from the hacker for $300,000. A hacker gained access to the official BAYC account and stole over a million dollars. Green was able to arrange a transfer with the new owner, but it was not possible to reverse these transactions. Galanis may have no other choice but to get the ape back if he wants it.
