It was Maddow's first interview since taking a break from hosting her show on MSNBC.

Maddow pointed to Carlson's career trajectory when she was asked about the ever changing landscape of cable news.
Look at his career. Nobody remembers his 11 o'clock show on MSNBC. He has always been a talent and was always kicking around the business. She said it was his moment.
Maddow was a panelist on the show.
Maddow compared Carlson's style to that of a baseball player.
It doesn't mean you don't like where they put their infielder in order to give them a better defense. She said that people who are doing well and people who are good at it are respected.
Despite their differing political beliefs, Maddow has always supported Carlson's work despite his political beliefs.
Maddow said that Tucker has always been kind to her and a fun person to fight with. I hope he has a good day.
Maddow was asked about the New York Times piece on Carlson. The central thrust of the reporting was about how Tucker's ideas interact with the growth of the authoritarian right in the Republican Party.
Maddow mentioned that it was nice to see the Fox News host.
According to Vanity Fair, Maddow is working on a World War II-themed show.
