According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, there was one fatal accident and four other injuries during the first day of the motorcycle rally.

A man died west of Hays on Highway 34 when his motorcycle rear-ended another motorcycle. The driver of the second motorcycle was injured and was taken to the Philip hospital. The drivers were not wearing helmets according to the Department of Public Safety.

The Department of Public Safety gave each day of the rally a report detailing citations for the area.

The 24 hour period began at 6 a.m. and ended at 2 p.m. Saturdays to 6 a.m. On Sunday. The three were up from the first day.
