A source told Jeremy Fowler that N'Keal Harry suffered a severe ankle injury during training camp.
Harry went down on the first play of drills when a screen pass went his way. The wide receiver's ankle appeared to roll up when Nicholas Morrow tackled him. A trainer and teammate helped the receiver off the field because he couldn't bear the weight on his ankle.
The severity of Harry's injury is still being evaluated, and no decision has been made on how long he will be out.
When the team practices at Soldier Field on Tuesday, Eberflus won't speak to reporters. Eberflus didn't know much about Harry's injury, only that the team would be watching it.
Eberflus said he saw him coming down. I saw the play, but I don't know a lot from there. Once we do the evaluation, we can get it back to you. We will let you know what it is. We will say that if it's day-by- day.
In July of this year, Harry was traded from New England to Chicago for a seventh-round pick. He played in 33 games for the Pats and had 57 catches for 592 receiving yards and 4 touchdown.
At the start of training camp, the wide receiver spoke about the fresh start he was getting with the Bears, where he was in competition for one of the starting roles.
Harry said July 27 that it was a good fit for him. I felt a lot of good vibes when I entered the building. Everyone here is happy. It's just a reset for me and I'm looking forward to it.
In addition to Harry, the Bears are down three of their top four wide receiver, including Byron Pringle who had a quad injury with no timetable for a return, and Velus Jones Jr., who has an injury that is considered day-to-day.
