According to Cleveland.com, police in Ohio arrested a man on Friday who they say mailed dozens of letters with feces.

The congressman was from Ohio.

Richard John Steinle was found guilty of mailing potentially hazardous material and was sentenced to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Steinle wrote to all 25 Republican members of the Ohio Senate. He referred to the lawmakers as "pig" and "racist" in the letters.

The letters were streaked with feces.

The same letters were sent to lawmakers in Kentucky.

The postal workers found three more letters at the collection box in July. Federal investigators followed Steinle to the post office after they staked out his house.

Steinle dropped a letter into the mail collection box while investigators watched. When investigators opened the letter, they found it covered in feces. There was a $1 bill in the envelope.

The letters were found in parts of the country.

The hearing for Steinle will take place on August 25.
