Donald Trump called for the abolition of the US Department of Education during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

There needs to be prohibitions on teaching inappropriate racial, sexual and political material to American school children.

The Department of Education should be abolished if federal bureaucrats want to push radicalism.

The former Secretary of Education told a conservative education summit last month that the department should be abolished.

The Florida Phoenix reports that at the Moms for Liberty summit, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos said that the Department of Education shouldn't exist.

The education policy decisions should be left to state and local boards. This was also met with applause.

The calls for the federal agency to be abolished precede the woman. The US Department of Education was the subject of a bill last year.

Massie said that unelected bureaucrats should not be in charge of children's intellectual and moral development.

Massie introduced a similar bill last year. In the 1980's, Ronald Reagan said he wanted to close it.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Republicans want to eliminate the department because they see education policy as falling within the purview of states and local communities.
