An American Airlines passenger was told that his luggage couldn't be found after his flight was canceled at Ronald Reagan airport in Washington, DC. The flight to New Orleans was delayed and then canceled because of Werner and his wife. Passengers on the plane were told that no pilot was available so it was delayed by an hour.

The flight had been canceled due to a combination of weather conditions and not having enough gas.

After waiting in line for two hours, they tried to rebook us on a different flight. It would have taken two and a half hours to get there when it was three and a half hours. They were told to get their luggage from the baggage claim, but it was filled with angry people waiting in line.

Passengers were told that the baggage claim area was closing and that they had to come back the next day to get their luggage.

"Security was called down before they made the announcement that no one would get their bags until the next day in anticipation of a mob scene because a lot of people were very upset, cursing and crying." He said they spent about 12 hours at the airport and felt the situation was poorly managed. After returning the next morning, he was told that his luggage was still at the airport and that it would be on a carousel at some point that day. After waiting for two hours, he gave up and went home.

The airline was contacted for comments.
