My property taxes have tripled since the governor took office. Billions are wasted on ineffective border initiatives by his administration. 18% of Texans who don't have insurance bear the cost of health care through our property taxes.

You don't have to be a Democrat to be an Independent or Republican. You don't have to be a fan of Democrats. You have to vote for Democrats in order to get rid of Greg Abbott. They have been running Texas for 22 years.

Both parties need better offers

The August 1 front-page story was insightful. Tarrant County's GOP can unite before the election. Some people who were upset about the judge race have had time to think about it.

False promises and attacks are part of political campaigns. Whoever wins has to work in a system that dictates the job description. They can't do what they say they can do.

I voted for Donald Trump two times. The votes were against what the other party had to offer. High-quality candidates have not been offered by either party.

Democrats’ plan looks bad to me

The July 29 story "Biden hails Democrats' inflation-fighting package" (12A) makes the act sound so rosy that it should turn things around. It is called an inflation- reducing act. It would cause inflation to go up even faster.

Raising taxes on corporations would cause them to raise the price of goods. A good company would look for ways to lower the costs of production, such as moving operations offshore. After that, it's not worth mentioning job numbers.

Fort Worth's John Boyd is the person mentioned.

Latina women’s voices invalidated

Latina women are not taken seriously by college students. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was sexually harassed on the steps of the Capitol because of her political beliefs. Texas Republican Representative Mayra Flores has been referred to as "Miss Frijoles" and "Miss Enchilada" because of her Mexican heritage.

Why does society meet us with sexism, racism and attempts to undermine our presence in the professional world regardless of how hard I work?

A glimpse into Fort Worth’s past

Carol Roark did a great job teaching about the Commercial Standard Building. A non-native architect who has lived and practiced in Fort Worth for 18 years, I have always been curious about the history and architect of that building.

I thought the Commercial Standard Building had something in common with Frank Lloyd Wright. The story of that history was wonderful to read.

We help train better teachers

Investing in aspiring teachers is the best way to address the shortage of teachers in the Fort Worth school district and other areas. It is possible to help them earn their degrees in a cost-effective manner.

WGU Texas, a nonprofit online university, is doing its part by making sure that future teachers can earn their teaching degrees at half the cost of other comparable institutions nationwide. The WGU's Teachers College graduated 9,187 students nationwide in the course of a year. We want teachers to be both good teachers and successful professionals with little debt and room for growth.

We need to work together in Texas to make sure we have enough workers.
