When the site said her content was too graphic to make money, the founder lost her income stream.

In an interview with Insider, Dr. Lee said that her YouTube channel, which has 7.5 million subscribers and has racked up nearly 5 billion views, doesn't make much money from advertising.

The site told her that her content was not a money-maker after she made close to $100,000 a month from her videos.

YouTube revenue

Lee makes money from advertising on his videos, memberships, and premium subscribers.

When Lee's "popaholic" viewers began viewing her videos in their billions, this became a major revenue stream. Lee could have made between 15 million and 25 million dollars if he had 1,000 views.

Users are discouraged from posting "graphic or violent content" on its channels and warnings are given that it will be removed. Footage showing bodily fluids, such as blood or vomit, with the intent to shock or disgust viewers was included.

Lee's popping videos have fallen into this category, which is meant to target harmful content and discourage violence. The chart shows a steep decline in revenue in 2016 when her team said that the videos could not be monetized.

Lee said her videos were only supposed to be educational.

She said that she was proud of the fact that children know what a lipoma is and that they have to remove the sack to remove it.

How are people going to learn if you don't motivate them to get the information out?

Battling medical disinformation

Lee feels like she is helping to battle medical misinformation by acting as a verified source on the internet.

Lee said that advertisers didn't want to be associated with a blackhead- popping channel.

Social media platforms grow big because of all the new posters, but then they wait until they get big enough that they can impose restrictions on it.

Lee has set up a members-only section, where viewers get access to exclusive pops, while she also gets income from her clinic, a show on the cable channel, and her skin care brand.

She pointed out that TikTok, where she has more than 15 million followers, is starting to restrict Lee's content. Some of her videos have warnings on them.

There is a line between what is shocking and what is educational.
