John Harbaugh said Saturday that Lamar Jackson is one of a few experienced front-line players who are being held out of the preseason opener.
The Ravens lost running back J.K. Dobbins to a knee injury in the preseason finale a year ago. The team tries to reduce the risk of injury after 25 players went on injured reserve last year. At this year's training camp, the number of drills has been reduced.
Harbaugh said that four other players won't play in the preseason opener, including a tight end, a flanker, a safety and a defensive back.
Harbaugh thinks you can figure out who will play and who will not.
Harbaugh wouldn't say if Jackson will be held out for the rest of the preseason. Jackson is in talks with the team.
Jackson has looked good at this year's training camp, completing 70% of his passes and throwing just two picks.
Jackson has not been allowed to play in preseason games by the Ravens. He missed the first two preseason games last year and didn't play in the final two due to a positive test for carbon dioxide. Jackson only played in 10 preseason snaps.
Even without Jackson, Baltimore will continue its streak. The Packers won 19 in a row from 1959 to 1962 but the Ravens have won 20 in a row. The Ravens' streak is believed to be the longest by any team in the last 20 years. The last preseason loss for Baltimore was in September.
