The bZ4X electric SUV was recalled by Toyota in June and the company is offering to buy it back. Two months after the bZ4X was released, Toyota issued a recall for loose hub bolts on the wheel.

Toyota initially advised bZ4X owners not to drive the vehicle, and suggested that they notify their local Toyota dealer so they can pick up and store the car while they wait for the problem to be fixed. Customers would receive a free loaner car from the company.

In exchange for the hassle, Toyota is offering a $5,000 credit, an extended warranty, and free charging at EVgo-owned charging stations through the end of 2024. Toyota will buy back the vehicle if the owner doesn't like it.

When it comes to buying a vehicle, our customers have many options. Toyota said in a statement that they appreciated their loyalty and would support them through the recall. We will offer to buy back the bZ4X if a customer doesn't want to proceed. The owner's state and circumstances are what determines the buy back.

It didn't offer any context about when the issue will be fixed. The exact number of vehicles affected by the recall is not known. There is a recall on the same platform that affects the Solterra.

The bZ4X is Toyota's first attempt at an all-electric vehicle. Toyota needs to iron out any remaining issues before it starts delivering more vehicles and ramping up production to meet its $17 billion goal of releasing 30 new EV by the year 2030.

The original article stated that the bZ4X recall was for loose steering wheel bolts. We apologize for the mistake.
