Brenden Aaronson (centre) and Leeds team-mates celebrate the winning goal over Wolves

The Elland Road crowd roared their delight as the final whistle blew, the players punched the air and the manager almost came to blows with Bruno Lage. The soundtrack of 'I Predict A Riot' feels right.

The Kaiser Chiefs song, with its depiction of menace and confrontation on the streets of the band's hometown, is now an anthem at Elland Road.

As they battled their way back from Daniel Podence's early goal, there was energy, effort and a little appetite for a fight.

Ryan Ait-Nouri's own net was the winner as they battled to a 2-2 draw. A lot of tackles were made in between.

Wolves were close to exposing the weaknesses in Marsch's side for 25 minutes after the break.

The visitors would have three points themselves if they had a more ruthless centre-forward like the injured Raul Jimenez.

Marsch and Lage were at odds over who would claim the ball on the touchline.

'The three points validate our work'

Marsch impressed by debutants in Leeds win

Marsch described the argument as "nothing, really" and "normal" after the game.

The Portuguese boss provided more clarity on what had been happening throughout the match.

There were things that we can't say in the first half and I heard that. When you've won the game, it's not a good time to apologize to me.

There were a lot of times between the first half and the end of the game when we could have apologized, but it wasn't to be.

There is no problem between the managers. The life goes on.

At the end of last season, it was clear that Marsch doesn't expect his teams to take a backward step, nor does he expect them to.

There is a famous picture of him and David Beckham nose-to- nose after he kicked the ex-England player. Marsch stood his ground despite the reputation of his opponent.

He won't be cowed by the managerial microscope under which he now sits, stripped of the dire circumstances surrounding him when he was appointed.

Marsch deserves a lot of credit for his part in driving Leeds to the points they needed to survive, but now he needs to have a plan.

There were four debutants on the field and a fit-again Patrick Bamford leading the attack.

Some parts did a better job than others. There are signs that Tyler Adams and Marc Roca can complement each other in the middle of the field as KalvinPhillips' replacements.

Even though he was all-action at full-back, he may need more help in such a narrow formation against Wolves with wide players wanting to double up.

Ait-Nouri's own goal from Bamford's cross was the most impressive of all, as it was scored by a player who had darted into the box and forced Ait-Nouri to make the save.

He doesn't have the flair of Raphinha, but in his own way he could prove to be an effective replacement.

Marsch pointed out before the game that the team may have lost two stars, but in general it has become stronger thanks to the recent arrivals of three players who have operated under the American before.

It wasn't perfect and at times threatened to topple over as Wolves came on strong after the break, but there was enough there forLeeds to believe they can avoid the trauma of last season's promotion fight.

Marsch said that the team looks like it understands what the tactics and ideas are with the ball. It was a challenge to implement what we wanted to achieve.

We still have a lot of work to do, but the three points show that we have worked hard.

'The club are talking with players'

Wolves manager Bruno Lage says his team were the better side

Wolves' weaknesses are obvious. Their qualities are also listed.

The only significant signing of the summer was Nathan Collins, the ex-Burnley man who made an efficient debut in the middle of a back four.

They desperately need some firepower to complement the creative powers of their wide forwards as they await the return of Jimenez.

It would be foolish to gamble on a repeat of last season's 10th place finish.

Lage was pleased with his side's performance, one that would have yielded greater reward but for key misses, but he is aware of the need for reinforcements.

Lage thinks they did a good job. We created a lot of chances but didn't score. I am happy with the performance but not with the result.

The pre-season was good and we have confidence to play in this system, I said before the game. I felt confident and we continued to play.

He said it was time to be patient because they were talking with players. I am aware that the club is talking with players and that they can increase the level of the squad.

They will come up with solutions that we didn't have before.
