On this first flight, the rocket will carry two satellites: a 300-pound Earth-observation satellite and an 18-pound cubesat called Azaadi SAT.
The high-resolution images of our planet will be provided by the new EOS-02. Each of the 75 different payloads is about 50 grams in weight. Students with an organization called Space Kidz India built the cubesat payloads and integrated them into AzaadiSAT.
A variety of "femto-experiments" will be conducted by the Azaadi SAT. One will measure space radiation levels, while the other will enable voice and data transmission over ham radio frequencies. The cubesat has a camera.
India will have three operational rockets once theSSLV is up and running. There are two bigger and more powerful satellites that are already flying.
