A 20-year-old man shot and killed 26 people, including 20 children, at an elementary school in Connecticut in December of 2012 after killing his mother. It was the worst day of President Barack Obama's presidency when the news of the massacre spread. Chris Murphy was present when the families of the victims learned of their loved ones' fates. He said he was so sad on the sixth anniversary. It hurts like hell every December 14th for those parents and my friends. I was sad to send my youngest to 1st grade this morning because I work with people who care more about politics than making sure he comes home safely. Since that day, many of the parents and families have started foundations in their children's names to help others and advocate for gun control. In early August, Alex Jones was ordered to pay over forty million dollars in damages to the parents of a child who was killed in the Sandy Hook massacre. The parents of Jesse Lewis were awarded more than $4 million in damages in the defamation trial. There were 27 people killed in the school shooting. Continue to read.
