Space.com reported that the first stage of the rocket that will carry astronauts to the International Space Station collided with a bridge.

The launch was delayed because of the damage and will now take place in late September.

On the back of a tractor trailer, the rocket stage was damaged.

Benjamin Reed, senior director of the human spaceflight program, said during a NASA livestream that they assessed the damage. The incursion caused some damage.

It's a big blow for the company as they continue to deal with hardware issues. The space company had to replace a heat shield for the upcoming mission.

Moving Forward

There is a lot riding on the success of the Crew-5 launch.

A Russian cosmonaut is part of the crew. The joint mission was announced earlier this year despite ongoing tensions between Russia and the United States over the invasion of Ukraine.

Russia is going to build its own space station after the International Space Station is abandoned.

Crew-5 astronauts seemed completely confident in their ride's safety rating, and Nicole Mann, the mission's commander, calmly addressed concerns about safety.

Mann said that they have full confidence that NASA and the international partners won't put them on a rocket or a spaceship that is not ready to go.
