At the beginning of training camp, the Cincinnati quarterback had an appendix removed.

The coach doesn't have a timetable for the return of the quarterback.

Taylor doesn't want to put a time line on it. He is getting a lot of mental work.

The top pick in the 2020 draft hasn't participated in any practices since the start of training camp. During the preparation for the upcoming season, Burrow is still visible.

Taylor said that before Friday's practice, Burrow led some of the meetings. Taylor said that it wasn't necessary to use Burrow to signal play calls like Kyler Murray is doing.

He's been engaged a lot. I don't think we need that to make him want to do things. He does a great job of that.

During two practices this week, Burrow has been observing the drills from a medical cart. He drove the medical cart across the field with the rest of the offense after they lost a team drill.

Even though he hasn't been fully engaged during training camp, Taylor said that he has been very visible to his teammates.

Taylor said they got excited to see him. He's our leader.
