DC United have a new player.

A two-and-a-half-year deal has been signed by the 31-year-old, with the club having an option for 25 years.

He had another year on his contract with Palace, where he spent the past 10 seasons in the English premier league.

Wayne Rooney said that Christian has played at the highest level for a long time.

The team will benefit from his experience and ability to score goals. It's great to get him in and play. He will change a lot.

Since joining Villa from Genk, the Belgian has scored 86 goals in the league.

His best season in the premier league was in 2012 when he scored 19 times.

In the summer of 2015, Palace paid a club-record £27m to sign the Belgian forward, who went on to score 18 goals in 45 internationals.

Rooney returned to DC United as coach last month and has also signed a Jamaican player who played under him at Derby County.

"Bringing in a world-class player of Christian's caliber is a huge testament to what's happening behind the scenes at the club and our ability to draw top talent globally," said Dave Kasper, United's president of soccer operations.

"We have been very active in the transfer window, bringing in six players, and since Wayne Rooney's appointment as our head coach we believe we have made major steps in putting together a roster that can both make a push to finish the season strong and build a foundation for the future."
