Nine years after it was first released, Papers, Please is now available on phones. The game can be found on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
Papers, Please takes place in the fictional communist state of Arstotzka, where you play as a border control agent who is faced with a lot of moral decisions. The game touches on real-world issues surrounding immigration while challenging players to confront their perception bias.
The game says that your job is to control the flow of people entering the Arstotzkan side of Grestin. There are many immigrants and visitors looking for work. You have to use only the documents provided by travelers and the Ministry of Admission's primitive inspect, search, and fingerprints systems to determine who can enter Arstotzka.
Lucas Pope created and published Papers, Please. The game was released for Windows, OS X, Linux, iPad, and the PS4 in December of last year.
On its release, the game was seen as a demonstration of video games as art forms. Papers, Please has received BAFTA game awards in the strategy and simulation categories.
Pope said that the game's user interface has been updated to make it easier to play on mobile devices. He says that if you already own the iPad app, you will be able to use it for free.
