NFL 2016 Season, Week 9 Preview

The 2016 NFL season has gotten off to a strong start, though some teams seem to have a little more fire under their helmets than others. In the AFC, the New England Patriots are showing what they’re made of, as they stand atop their division after seven weeks, with an impressive 6-1 record. No other team in the Conference has that good a tally, though the Oakland Raiders and defending champs Denver Broncos – both 5-2 going into Week 8 – are making a good effort. Over in the NFC, the Cowboys are sitting atop the East with only one loss, similar to the Minnesota Vikings from the NFC North.

Get Ready for Some Mighty Match-Ups

So what does this mean for upcoming games? It means a lot of action in Week 9, which leads off with the November 3 match-up between the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The two teams are very closely matched, having met each other 46 times over the years, with the Buccaneers winning 24 games and the Falcons winning 22. But perhaps the most highly anticipated meeting will take place on Sunday, November 6: the match-up between the Denver Broncos – with QB Peyton Manning at the helm – and the Oakland Raiders, with Derek Carr as quarterback. These two great teams have met more than 100 times over the years, with the Raiders having the edge in wins. The teams share the same starting record going into Week 8, and this means a fantastic competition can be expected. That same week, the Carolina Panthers – who lost to the Broncos 24-10 in Super Bowl 50 – will battle the Los Angeles Rams. The Panthers are having a miserable start to the season, with their 1-5 record putting them at the bottom of the NFC South. The Rams in the West are doing only slightly better, getting off to a 3-4 start. However, despite the inauspicious stats, Carolina QB Cam Newton is always exciting to watch so great things could happen when these two teams face off.
