Chances are you have an update for your phone. There is a minor fix in the update for the latest devices.
The fix for gps location failure is only included in the update. It's exclusive to the Pixel 6 series, so other phones won't get it.
The update should start rolling out today and continue over the next week, depending on your carrier.
This appears to be the same update that was posted to the support pages for the Pixel 6 and Pro. The build numbers for different carriers can be found below.

For those of you who are wondering where the August update is, it will arrive soon. New monthly updates are usually pushed closer to the beginning of a month. However, it seems this new fix may have gotten in the way of things, and for some reason, it had to be released before the August patch.
Hopefully the August patch will bring the new Pixel 6a up to speed with other devices.
There's a chance that the stable version of the operating system will be released in September ahead of the upcoming devices, meaning there will be more to look forward to. We will be keeping an eye on it.
