In the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary, former President Donald Trump got a big win over former Vice President Mike Pence, thanks to the hard-right former television news anchor.
The race for Lake was called off by the Associated Press. Two days after the election, an estimated 86 percent of the vote has been counted.
Lake led with 46.8% of the vote.
Lake is running for Secretary of State in Arizona.
Lake painted herself as a right-wing firebrand and made Trump's false claims of voter fraud a central focus of her campaign. The election was unfair, but she didn't believe that Trump won. She questioned Lake's Republican credentials because her opponent was a registered Democrat who supported John Kerry and Barack Obama. The Arizona GOP primary was the second in a row in which Trump and Pence supported opposing candidates. The Georgia Republican gubernatorial primary was won by Brian Kemp over David Perdue.
Next Tuesday, in Wisconsin's Republican gubernatorial primary, Trump and Pence will square off against each other, with Trump's candidate, businessman TimMichels, facing off against Kleefisch, who was endorsed by the vice president.
