All of us have been there.

You're running late to work and trying to come up with an excuse to avoid being seen by your boss. Was there a family emergency? The alarm wasn't working. You might turn around the car and play hooky for the day.

In the case of Rich Ohrnberger, he crashed his car on purpose.

On his San Diego XTRA 1360 radio show, Ohrnberger said that he woke up late for practice because he was afraid of being cut.

"I see a church van in front of me that's all dinged up, and it's got the black smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe, and I'm just like, 'I'm gonna hit this car'."

The church van was being driven by an old man when Ohrnberger ran his Chevy SUV into it.

The story was amusing and no one was hurt.

This story could have been a lot worse if the other driver had been hurt.
